More than tours —

real experiences in Portugal

About Us

We're not just a tour company.

We're experience makers.

Our mission is simple: to show you Portugal in a way that's real, personal, and unforgettable. No tourist traps, no boring scripts — just immersive journeys designed for curious travelers who want to go beyond the obvious.

We offer day trips, multi-day tours, and unique experiences by land and sea — all crafted with care, flexibility, and a deep love for this country. We focus on small groups and meaningful moments, blending history, local culture, hidden gems, and storytelling that brings it all to life.

Our team speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish, so no matter where you're from, you'll feel right at home.

Since 2015, we've welcomed travelers from over a dozen countries — from the USA and Canada to Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, and many more. With over 700 heartfelt reviews, it's clear our guests appreciate the personal touch and genuine experiences we offer.

If you're looking for something real — welcome to Away Tours Portugal!

Meet the Team

Nádia Coelho

Founder · Experience Curator

I'm Nádia Coelho, born and raised in Lisbon, and I don't do basic tours. Why? Because Portugal deserves more than the usual clichés and crowded spots. I create experiences that stick with you — the kind that make you see this country differently, beyond the postcards.

Since 2015, I've been turning walks into adventures. Psychology taught me how to connect, travel showed me the joy of discovery, and Sintra? Sintra taught me to get lost (on purpose).

One of my favorite moments? When people discover a hidden spot or hear a story that's not in the usual guidebooks. That's what makes every tour special. I keep things small, skip the boring scripts, and focus on real connections.

If you're looking for something generic, I might not be the right fit — but if you want something personal, flexible, and full of heart, welcome.

María Tristán

Tour Guide

I’m María Tristán, originally from Madrid, but Lisbon has been home since 2012 — the year I arrived for an exchange program and ended up falling completely in love with the city.

What started as something temporary quickly turned into something permanent. Lisbon has a way of doing that — of quietly becoming part of you.

I’ve always been drawn to languages, to the way they open doors to people, cultures, and new ways of seeing the world. And maybe that’s also why I value the simple things so much: watching the light change from a miradouro, walking aimlessly through the city, or spending time by the sea.

I’m also deeply connected to nature. I love working with organic materials — creating small crafts with seashells or flowers — and I’m an enthusiast of botany, gardens, and plants.

For me, it’s never just about where you go, but how you experience it — slowly, curiously, and with space to really take it in.

João Allen

Skateboarder · Creative Explorer · Lisbon Street Style Icon

João Allen is a standout skateboarder from Lisbon, known for his fearless style, street-wise creativity, and love for rolling where others don't dare. He's become one of Portugal's most respected street skaters, carving lines through the city's rugged plazas, cobblestones, and hidden concrete landscapes with effortless style and determination.

Growing up skating in Lisbon — especially around iconic spots like Praça da Figueira — João learned early on how to make even the roughest surfaces look smooth and exciting. He doesn't chase the easy spots; he seeks out challenges, finding beauty in the imperfect, the rough, and the overlooked.

When he's not on his board, João also finds time for snowboarding, long city explorations, and sharing his city with others — including guiding tours through Lisbon's streets on a tuk‑tuk because he genuinely loves showing visitors the real heart of his hometown.
